I’m in my mid-twenties, and work and live in London, having grown up in the Midlands, and then gone to Uni up north.I’m an avid fan of German football – and all things Deutsch – and have followed the Bundesliga for about ten years. I also have a great love of track & field athletics, and pretty much all sport. I want to create a greater appreciation for the Bundesliga in the UK, and will happily talk about it all day!

In the great pantheon of football annuls, FC Augsburg are veritable young upstarts. And, having found themselves gracing the Bundesliga for the first time this season, it is perhaps no surprise that they were immediately installed as favourites to return to the second tier. November 10th, 2011 marks the two-year anniversary of Robert Enke's decision to take his own life. At approximately 6.15pm, the affable German international stepped in front of the Bremen regional express in the village of Eilvese. He was just 32, and left an adoptive child, devoted wife, and close circle of friends behind; consigned to an overwhelming void of emptiness.Within

With only two teams managing to negotiate the month of October unbeaten, and just two more failing to register a win during that period, the refreshing competitiveness of the Bundesliga looks to have returned with a vengeance. And with a total of 99 goals across the 36 games from Matchdays 8-11, the entertainment value continues to match it.Bayern remain top

The opening month of the 2011-12 Bundesliga campaign was, perhaps, most notable for the apparent return to status quo that it seemed to embody. However, eight games in, and a more recent trend

Matchday 1 of this season’s Group Stage of the Champions’ League offered up something of a mixed bag for the three Bundesliga representatives; with Champions Dortmund drawing, Bayer Leverkusen losing, and Bayern completing the set with a win. Borussia Dortmund 1-1 Arsenal Tuesday evening saw a capacity crowd of 65,000 create a cacophony of noise befitting the “temple of football”

One month in to the 2011-12 German Bundesliga campaign, and there is a historically familiar shadow to the early league table, as Bayern Munich lead the way, with Schalke 04 in second spot, and Werder Bremen third. Those three sides have all accrued nine points from their respective four opening fixtures. Defending Champions Borussia Dortmund lie sixth with seven points.

152 years would seem an unusual anniversary to mark. Yet there is significant reason to think that fans, players and staff alike at TSV 1860 Munich will do just that with an extra degree of joy in May next year. And that is because they still have a cause cèlébre after their Club was saved this week by a Jordanian

So, the Bundesliga season is at an end yet again. And cue the galas and awards. In a year that has gone some small way to upsetting the more usual order of German football, it was the free-spirited Schwarzgelben of Jürgen Klopp’s youthful Dortmund side that swept aside all other contenders to hoist aloft the Bundesliga trophy. Their vibrant brand

On the 16th of March, Schalke’s Chairman Clemens Tonnies wielded the axe to part company with his then Head Coach, Felix Magath. At the time, Schalke occupied tenth place in the Bundesliga (their highest position of the season), had just completed a two-leg victory over Valencia to take them into the Champions’ League quarter-final, and were looking forward to
