RABBI MATONDO is locked in talks with Rangers as he prepares to become Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s third signing of the summer.

Bundesilga outfit Schalke have allowed the 21-year-old Welsh winger time off their pre-season trip to Austria to have negotiations with the Ibrox side.

The clubs have agreed a fee, according to a report in the Scottish Sun, for the former Manchester City prospect who cost £11million when he switched to Germany three years ago.

The youngster has had loan spells at Stoke City and Cercle Brugge while seeking game time and has come on Van Bronckhorst’s radar after Joe Aribo sealed his £10million move to Southampton at the weekend.

Croatian striker Antonio Colak, who cost £2million from PAOK, and Welsh forward Tom Lawrence, who left Derby County at the end of the season, have already signed up for the Scottish Cup winners, as Scotzine reported.

Van Bronkchorst has also been linked Bayern Munich’s 20-year-old US international midfielder Malik Tillman who featured four times for Julian Naglesmann’s first team last term.

The attacking middle-of-the-park operator started his career at Greuther Furth before making a switch to Bayern’s academy. He made his debut in the German Cup-tie against Bremer SV also also made an appearance against Barcelona in the Champions League.
