SNAPPED: ALL THE HAMPDEN DRAMA

0

RANGERS earned the right to play Hearts in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden on May 21 after their 2-1 semi-final extra-time success over Celtic yesterday.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst watched his side battle their way back from the loss of a goal to Greg Taylor in the 64th minute to emerge victorious after substitute Scott Arfield equalised with 12 minutes to go to take the game into an extra half-hour.

And with the clock ticking down, Calvin Bassey raced down the left wing before thrashing over a low cross which was deflected past the helpless Joe Hart by the unfortunate Carl Starfelt for the winner.

DUTCH DELIGHT…Giovanni van Bronckhorst shouts for joy at full-time.

It had been the usual frantic and hectic Glasgow derby confrontation with referee Bobby Madden booking seven players – five from the Ibrox team and two from the Hoops – as both sets of players locked horns.

The Tynecastle club booked their spot 24 hours earlier with an identical scoreline against Hibs with Ellis Simms and Stephen Kingsley scoring the goals and  Chris Cadden hitting his side’s consolation.

Now all eyes are on the national stadium next month for Rangers v Hearts.

Scotzine’s ace snappers were at Hampden for the fourth Glasgow head to head this season.
