ST JOHNSTONE boss Callum Davidson has moved swiftly to snap up former Celtic defender Efe Ambrose.
The 32-year-old Nigerian international, who has spent the last 18 months at Livingston, has been a free agent since leaving the West Lothian club in the summer.
Davidson eyes the utility star as an ideal replacement for skipper Jason Kerr who left for Wigan on deadline day. Liam Gordon is also injured and Ambrose has been called in to fill the gaps. according to a report in the Scottish Sun.
The experienced back-four operator has gone straight into the Perth squad to face Rangers at McDiarmid Park and could make a quickfire debut.
Ambrose arrived in Scotland when Neil Lennon, in his firt time-around spell at Celtic, brought him in from Israeli club Ashdod for £750,000 in 2012.
They teamed up again at Hibs five years later on a permanent basis after the player had originally impressed during a loan spell.
Now the Saints have become his fourth Scottish club and he aims to make an immediate impact of he is called upon today.
