REPORTS of Porto’s £10million bid for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos have been rubbished.

The controversial Colombian forward has been linked with the Portuguese giants, but claims they have slapped in a massive offer for the player are wide of the mark, according to the Daily Record.

There appears no doubt the fiery frontman is on a list of possible summer targets for Porto, but it appears they have NOT firmed up their interest in him.

However, Steven Gerrard is in no rush to part with the raider he views as being pivotal to the defence of the club’s first title in a decade which they won in a canter last term, 25 points ahead of fallen champions Celtic.

Morelos is expected to be given some time off before he returns to pre-season training, now Colombia’s Copa America assault is over, as they were beaten on penalties by Argentina.

Porto’s interest has been further fuelled by claims from the player’s camp that terms have already been agreed while his former Ibrox team-mate Daniel Candeias also insisted the temperamental star is keen on the move

Morelos’ agent, Michael Gorman, had been in Portugal, but it has been discovered he was finalising Colombian international Yerson Mosquera’s move to Wolves.

The Gers were in a similar a situation last season when French outfit Lille agreed a contract, but were unable to meet the club’s asking price. So, Morelos remains a Rangers player – for the time being.
