RANGERS will take on Malmo in the Champions League third round qualifier after they overcame HJK Helsinki.

The Swedes secured a 2-2 second-leg draw in the Finnish capital to go through 4-3 on aggregate for a meeting with Steven Gerrard’s men.

Gers will travel to Sweden next week and host Malmo at Ibrox in the second leg on August 10. The Scots, who won their first title in a decade last season, have not made the group stages of Europe’s elite competition since 2010.

If they beat Malmo, the Govan side would progress to the Champions League play-off match, just one step away from the group stages.

Gerrard watched his players complete their pre-season in impressive fashion, coming from behind to beat Real Madrid 2-1 in their final friendly ahead of Saturday’s home Premiership opener against Livingston.

Summer signing Fashion Sakala and Cedric Itten got the goals that saw off the Spainiards who had taken an early lead through Rodrygo.
