RANGERS are poised to net a £1million bonus – thanks to the amazing rise to fame of Billy Gilmour.

Not long after his 16th birthday in July 2017, the Ayrshire kid was sold by the Ibrox side to Chelsea for an initial £500,000 with the promise of more to come through appearances and success — while Ibrox chiefs also insisted on a sell-on clause in any future transfer.

Gilmour, who starred for Scotand during his debut in the goalless draw against England at Wembley just under a fortnight ago, has made such progress since Frank Lampard handed him a Premier League baptism in August 2019 the new SPFL champions can expect an extra seven-figure sum, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.

The SFA performance school graduate has now made 22 first-team appearances for the Stamford Bridge club, including 14 starts.

The midfielder, now 20, was linked with a loan return to Ibrox, but the London side are insisting he remains in the Premier League and the player is due at Carrow Road today for a medical before rubber-stamping a season-long move to newly-promoted Norwich City.

Chelsea gaffer Thomas Tuchel, a friend of fellow-German Daniel Farke, the manager of the East Anglian outfit, is eager for his prospect to gain more game time and has sanctioned the temporary switch.
