RYAN FRASER will miss Scotland’s Euro Play-Off Final against Serbia in Belgrade on Thursday due to a hamstring injury.

The Newcastle winger was forced to sit out his side’s 2-0 Premier League defeat against Southampton at St Mary’s last night where his international team-mate Stuart Armstrong netted the clinching goal eight minutes from time.

According to Sky Sports News, Fraser is now poised to withdraw from Steve Clarke’s squad for the crucial encounter against the Serbs where the Scots can win through to the finals of a major tournament for the first time since the World Cup in France in 1998.

The 26-year-old former Aberdeen star scored the only goal in his country’s 1-0 Nations League victory against the Czech Republic at Hampden last month. Clarke’s side have further Nations League fixtures against Slovakia a week tomorrow and Israel three days later.

Fraser, who joined Steve Bruce’s Tuneside outfit in the summer after coming out of contract at Bournemouth, has made 14 appearances and scored two goals for Scotland since making his debut in June 2017.
