FORMER Celtic striker Chris Sutton has had a dig at Sheyi Ojo who is preparing to return to Liverpool following his season-long loan deal at Rangers, as Scotzine reported during the week.

The former England Under-21 international winger thanked the Ibrox fans for their support in a social media message.

Sutton, now a top media pundit, couldn’t resist having his say and insisted the 22-year-old youngster, who has already had temporary transfers to Wigan, Wolves and Fulham, merely talked a good game.

When Ojo arrived last summer he announced Rangers were the number one side in the country.

Sutton’s old club disproved that claim by being awarded their ninth successive title after football came to a halt during the coronavirus pandemic. The Hoops had been leading the league by 13 points from Steven Gerrard’s side with eight games to go.

Back in July, Ojo said: “Towards the end of last season, I watched some of the Scottish Premiership games and I’m really looking forward to it.

“I think Rangers are the best team in the league. It’s just about proving that we’re the best team and doing really well this season.”

And taking to social media, Sutton wrote: “Talked a good game before he kicked a ball.”

Ojo scored five goals in his 36 appearances for the Light Blues.
