GERS OFFER VOUCHERS TO FANS

RANGERS have offered season-ticket holders a voucher if the Premiership campaign is not played to a conclusion.

The Ibrox club have nine league games to be completed, but it is looking increasingly as though there will be a premature halt to the term due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The SPFL have already called an end to the Championship, League One and League Two with Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Cove Rangers handed the titles for their respective divisions.

Steven Gerrard’s side, currently 13 points adrift of eight-in-a-row champions Celtic, have at least four games to play at home, including a derby with the Hoops which was postponed on Sunday March 17 just days before the lockdown.

But Gers won’t be following the likes of Championship side Partick Thistle and League Two One outfit Stirling Albion who have offered refunds to fans and will provide vouchers to be used on club products instead.

The £25 being provided by Rangers will be able to be used on the new MYGERS membership scheme, match tickets – including friendlies, women’s games, cup tickets and legends matches -, hospitality packages, soccer school programmes, RangersTV subscriptions, stadium tours and club events.

It comes as the Ibrox side begin selling their season tickets for next season with managing director Stewart Robertson announcing the new scheme.

Full details are yet to be announced, but the Ibrox chief says it will “will bring supporters, both domestically and internationally, even closer to the club”.

In an open letter to supporters, Robertson wrote: “On behalf of everyone at Rangers Football Club, I want to extend my sincere thanks for your continued support both during the current season and through the biggest challenge this country has faced in several generations.

“Your loyalty to Rangers will never be taken for granted, especially in tough times. With that in mind, we wish to reward you by freezing season ticket prices for season 2020/21. In addition, we have extended the closing date for applications to June 30.

“Your patience is greatly appreciated. We are all hungry for success on the field, and we are getting ever closer, while we have also continued to make significant steps off the field.

“Moving this year to a fully online system for season ticket renewals is another step to modernise our club and a further example of our desire to be the best in everything we do, on and off the field.

“I am also delighted to announce the launch of our new MYGERS membership, this will bring our supporters, both domestically and internationally, even closer to the club. This is another way to reward fans for their loyalty and support. MYGERS has been specifically designed to recognise and reward your loyalty, while I am also pleased to announce special memberships for our younger supporters through our Junior Gers programme.

“There has been significant progress over the past five years, and we are absolutely committed to making the next step – delivering silverware to Ibrox. That is why we are all here.

“Recent events have been challenging for everyone connected to the Rangers family; players, staff and supporters have all been affected by the events of recent months but we will emerge from these difficult times and it is our job to ensure that when we do, that the club is as ready and well prepared for the new season as is possible.

“This period in society has demonstrated what we are capable of when people work together. Indeed, the same is true at Ibrox. Without your support, we would simply not have been able to rebuild the club to the position we are now fortunate to find ourselves in. With your support we can take that next step.

“The award winning work of the Rangers Charity Foundation is a vital support to thousands of people in Glasgow and beyond, not only during the COVID-19 crisis but through our wide range of ongoing programmes. We are delighted to continue to include a £2 donation for the Rangers Charity Foundation as part of the season ticket payment. We greatly appreciate ours fans continued loyalty and support.

“I am delighted to announce our board wants to recognise your continued support during this current crisis. In the event of this season’s games not being completed in front of our supporters, as a reward for your unstinting loyalty to Rangers, we are offering season ticket holders a £25 voucher to spend on the following club products.

“Step by step, together, we are stronger.

“Thank you once again for your continued and invaluable support.”
