CHARLIE NICHOLAS insists John Hartson has got it WRONG when he says Rangers should concede the title to Celtic.

The Hoops heroes have very differing views on the current situation with the season halted with the champions 13 points ahead of the Ibrox outfit with eight games to go.

Hartson joined the rally call for the league season to be ended at this stage with the Parkhead side crowned for the ninth successive campaign.

However, Nicholas, now a media pundit, believes the Gers would risk massive upset amongst their own followers if they went along with the notion Neil Lennon’s men should take the top prize.

Nicholas, speaking to Sky Sports News, said: “John Hartson said Rangers would get a lot of credit if they were to concede the title to Celtic. From who?

“There is NO CHANCE of Rangers getting praise from anywhere. Their own fans would be up in arms.

“Rangers can’t concede the title – and why should they?

“As I have said all along, Celtic need to win it and, hopefully, we will get back playing and get everything decided on the pitch.”

It would take a seismic collapse from Nicholas’ old club for them not to retain the flag – if, ow when, the campaign restarts. They have lost only two games from 30 league outings and also have a huge plus-25 goal difference advantage.

Two of their remaining eight games are against Steven Gerrard’s side and honours have been even in the league this term, but the Hoops enjoyed success in the Betfred League Cup Final against their Glasgow neighbours in December.

Curiously, Lennon’s side won 2-0 at Ibrox in September, but Gers reversed that with a 2-1 victory at Parkhead before the turn of the year.
