BRANDON BARKER could lead the mass clear-out at Rangers in the summer – only one season after arriving from Manchester City.

The winger agreed a three-year contract in June after impressing in the Premiership on loan at Hibs.

However, the 23-year-old has failed to spark at Steven Gerrard’s outfit and has scored only one goal from a mere 10 appearances for the club that is set to undergo a massive makeover after a second successive disappointing campaign.

The Ibrox club missed the chance of their first major silverware in eight years when they lost 1-0 to Celtic in the Betfred League Cup Final in December and they toppled out of the Scottish Cup after crashing 1-0 to Hearts at Tynecastle last month.

A 1-0 home defeat from Hamilton Accies saw them slip 13 points behind Neil Lennon’s side with a game in hand before the coronavirus pandemic brought football to an emergency halt.

With the game in chaos, Gerrard is still planning for a third campaign in an effort to turn things around.

Barker arrived on what is believed to be a lucrative contract, but could now be heading for the exit – if Gers can find a buyer.

The former England Under-20 international flanker is likely to be at the head of the exodus that could include Andy Halliday, Jon Flanagan, Wes Foderingham, Jordan Jones, Jamie Murphy and Greg Docherty while Alfredo Morelos and Borna Barisic have been linked with big-money deals elsewhere which could bring in transfer funds to help with the rebuild.
