SCOTTISH CUP DRAW: CELTIC IN PERTH, GERS AT HEARTS

0

HOLDERS Celtic won their THIRTY-THIRD successive domestic Cup-tie as they overcame League One Clyde 3-0 at Broadwood this afternoon.

Goals from Olivier Ntcham, Scott Brown and substitute Vakoun Issouf Bayo blasted Neil Lennon’s side into the Scottish Cup quarter-finals where the draw has paired them with St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park later in the month.

The Hoops have faced the Perth outfit twice this season in the Premiership – and have claimed TEN goals without reply. The champions kicked off the league season against Tommy Wright’s outfit with a landslide 7-0 victory in August and they also won 3-0 away recently.

Rangers, who beat Hamilton Accies 4-1 yesterday with Scott Arfield pitching in with two goals, will travel to Tynecastle to take on Hearts where they lost 2-1 in the league after the mid-winter break.

Daniel Stendel’s outfit relied on a Sean Clare penalty-kick in last night’s game to see off Falkirk.

Hibs, who thrashed BSC 4-1 this afternoon, have been drawn at home to Inverness Caley Thistle who were 1-0 victors over Livingston in Lothian on Saturday.

St Mirren and Motherwell, who tied 1-1 in Paisley, will play either Aberdeen or Kilmarnock who couldn’t be separated in a scoreless encounter at Pittodrie.

THE FULL DRAW:

Hibs v Inverness Caley Thistle

St Mirren or Motherwell v Aberdeen or Kilmarnock

St Johnstone v Celtic

Hearts v Rangers

The quarter-finals are due on the weekend of February 29 and March 1.
