BARISIC’S ‘OUTSIDE CHANCE’, JACK BACK

0

BORNA BARISIC is battling to be fit in time to face Kilmarnock at Rugby Park tomorrow night – but Rangers boss Steven Gerrard admits it’s an uphill fitness struggle.

The Croatian left-back, so impressive in recent months, was forced off injured during the Ibrox side’s 4-1 Scottish Cup victory over Hamilton Accies at the FYO Stadium at the weekend.

Gerrard, though, had better news concerning Scotland international midfielder Ryan Jack, who is poised to return against Killie after limping off in the 2-1 setback against Hearts last month.

Barisic is desperate to join him as the Gers attempt to keep pressure on champions Celtic who are seven points ahead with the Govan outfit having a game in hand.

Gerrard, speaking to the Daily Record, said: “Borna has an outside chance, he won’t train today and we will give him a late fitness test, he is 50/50. Ryan Jack is available.

“Kilmarnock have had three decent results and they seem to be turning a corner, our matches against them have always been tough.

“We expect nothing different and it will be a good challenge for us.

“I’m someone who will always push for the best I can get from my players. The players seem to be getting there.

“We need to continue to work, there have been times we have had the 90 minutes performances and I have every confidence we will get there again.”
