FORMER Celtic and Hibs defender Efe Ambrose looks to be heading for a return to Scotland with Livingston.

Talks have already taken place between the 31-year-old Nigerian international and the Lothian club with boss Gary Holt keen to strengthen his squad for the second half of the season.

Ambrose, who has also attracted interest from St Johnstone, has been without a club since he left Derby County in the summer.

He joined the Championship side in February last year after exercising a release clause in his contract at Easter Road.

Following a trial, he was offered a short-term deal from the Championship outfit, but did not play a single game.

Ambrose has been keeping fit by playing and training with his local club back in Nigeria.

Livi are also want to land Motherwell keeper Trevor Carson on a pre-contract.

The 32-year-old Northern Ireland international is out of contract at the Fir Park club in the summer.
