KEEPER Matija Sarkic has been recalled by Aston Villa from his loan spell at Livingston.

The shotstopper has kept seven clean sheets in 18 appearances for the Lothian outfit since arriving on a temporary switch from the Midlands side.

Sarkic also shut out Celtic in the champions’ shock 2-0 loss at Livi in October – the only time the Hoops have failed to score in a domestic game this season.

The 22-year-old also made his international debut for Montenegro in a 2-0 win over Belarus in November.

He has been called back by Villa after first-choice No.1 Tom Heaton was ruled out for the rest of the campaign with knee ligament damage.

A statement from the Premiership outfit read: “This is incredibly disappointing news for all at Livingston FC given the level of performance we’ve seen from Matty this season.”
