CELTIC have laughed off stories that Monaco have made an approach for 20-goal striker Odsonne Edouard.

Reports in France claimed the Ligue 1 side had contacted the Hoops hierarchy over the weekend about the availability of the forward who cost a club record £9million buy from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2018.

However, the Parkhead club insist there have been no discussions with the French giants and they would be wasting their time if they attempted to make an approach before Friday night’s transfer deadline, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.

Twenty-two-year-old Edouard, who scored two goals in three minutes after coming off the substitutes’ bench in the 3-1 win over Ross County at the weekend, has stated consistently he is in no rush to leave the eight-in-a-row champions.

The flamboyant French ace still has two-and-a-half years to run on his current contract.

He is likely to lead the attack when Neil Lennon’s men take on St Johnstone in Perth as they aim to maintain progress at the of the league.

The title kings are five points ahead following Rangers’ 2-1 loss against Hearts at Tynecastle yesterday. The Ibrox side, however, still have a game in hand.
