JERMAIN DEFOE is willing to accept a large pay cut to stay at Rangers, according to media reports.

The 37-year-old striker agreed an 18-month loan deal from Bournemouth in January and will be free to return to the south coast outfit at the end of the season.

Steven Gerrard welcomed his former England international team-mate to Scottish football with insiders insisting the Ibrox outfit were paying the veteran a whopping £65,000-per-week, half of his wages with Eddie Howe’s Premier League club.

TWIN TERRORS…Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe warm up for the action.

Defoe will be a free agent in the summer and up for grabs. Gerrard has used the hitman sparingly as he has been alternated on occasions with 24-goal Colombian raider Alfredo Morelos.

The much-travelled Englishman has still managed to score 10 goals in this campaign, including a hat-trick in the 6-1 win over Hibs at Ibrox earlier in the term.

He missed the team’s 2-2 Europa League draw against Feyenoord in Rotterdam on Thursday after sustaining an injury in pre-match training.

However, Defoe should be fit for the visit of Hearts to Glasgow this afternoon.
