FORREST HAILS ‘UNBELIEVABLE’ CELTIC STAR

0

JAMES FORREST has hailed his “unbelievable” Celtic team-mate Odsonne Edouard.

The 21-year-old striker took his Hoops’ goal haul to 11 for the campaign with his double in the 6-0 Premiership rout of Ross County at Parkhead yesterday.

Mohamed Elyounoussi also claimed two while Forrest and Callum McGregor chipped in with one apiece.

Remarkably, for the two Scotland international stars it was their second successive 6-0 win in six days after Steve Clarke’s side’s win over San Marino at Hampden a week ago today.

But it was Edouard who caught the winger’s eye during the demolition of the Dingwall outfit as the champions got back on track following the loss of five points to Hibs (1-1) and Livingston (0-2) in their previous two league outings.

PRIZE GUYS…James Forrest congratulates Odsonne Edouard after his first goal in the 6-0 win over Ross County.

Forrest, speaking to the Evening Times, said: “Odsonne has been unbelievable so far this season with the goals he’s scored. And his link-up play is really good, as well.

“He went away with France Under-21s and also scored goals for them. He’s a top player and great to have in the team.”

Edouard netted a hat-trick in Slovakia to give his nation a 5-3 win in their Europa qualifying section. That boosted his strike rate for the French at that level to nine in four games after scoring doubles in his three previous outings.

Neil Lennon took no risks with Edouard or Forrest against the Highlanders yesterday once he acknowledged the job was done and the points were safe.

He put on Vakoun Issouf Bayo for the attack leader and Ukrainian Marian Shved for the winger in the second-half to make sure they were fresh for the Europa League Group E visit of Lazio on Thursday night.
