DEFEATED Cluj boss Dan Petrescu admitted Celtic have “better players” after watching Neil Lennon’s side win 2-0 at Parkhead last night to go top of Europa League Group E.

The outstanding Odsonne Edouard headed the home side into the lead in the first-half and Mohamed Elyounoussi added a second to make certain the Hoops would pick up the three points to take them to the pinnacle while Lazio overcame Rennes 2-1 in Rome.

Lennon admitted his team were not on a revenge mission against the Romanians who knocked out the country’s title kings from the Champions League with a sensational 4-3 win in Glasgow seven weeks ago.

However, they started with a verve and gusto and the visitors struggled to get back into the encounter following the loss of the first goal in the 20th minute.

Former Chelsea and Romanian World Cup star Petrescu, speaking to the Daily Record, admitted: “We know Celtic is a very good team as we played here before.

“We know it’s very difficult to win here as they’ve only lost here one time all season and that was against us.

“Celtic have better players all over the pitch, but we cannot win two times at Celtic.

“For me, Celtic and Lazio are the big favourites in this group.

“Normally, they should go through, but, in football, there are some surprises.”

Celtic now sit in top spot on four points while Cluj and Lazio have three and Rennes are anchored at the foot with just one.
