ODSONNE EDOUARD will go into the big-money transfer window when he plays against Rennes in the Europa League group stages opener in France on Thursday night.

That’s the view of Celtic legend Chris Sutton as he admits he believes the Frenchman will be on the move when the mega-offers inevitably come in for the on-fire frontman.

Edouard scored a marvellous goal against Rangers at Ibrox a fortnight ago before heading to Paris to make his debut for the France Under-21 side where he scored doubles against Albania and the Czech Republic.

And as the eyes of envious cash-rich European sides focus on the Parkhead fans’ favourite, the one-time £10million former Chelsea attacker reckons that is a GOOD thing for the eight-in-a-row champions who have seen Kieran Tierney depart in a £25million deal to Arsenal and Moussa Dembele in a £19.8million switch to Lyon in 13 months.

Sutton, speaking in the Daily Record, said: “Odsonne Edouard will be absolutely relishing the first Europa League group game.

“Having gone back to his homeland to shine for the Under-21 team over the past eight days, this will be another massive opportunity for Edouard to show his value and the games against Lazio later in the group stages are also high profile.

TARGET MAN…Odsonne Edouard scores No.1 against Rangers keeper Allan McGregor at Ibrox.

“Big performances and goals in good Celtic performances will only see the vultures swoop lower and lower over Parkhead.

“It’s not a reason for the Celtic fans to get downhearted. It’s just the reality of the modern game and the footballing food chain.

“If Edouard attracts big clubs to the table in the same way as Moussa Dembele and Kieran Tierney have done in the past, that’s a good thing for the champions.

“Not only does it bring more money into the coffers when the time comes, it also strengths their chances of signing the next Dembele or Edouard when he comes along.

“What we are seeing now is the progressing of a boy who is destined for very big things.

“In that sense, the supporters should savour every moment he’s there because his time for leaving is fast approaching.”
