HOLDERS Celtic face Dunfermline in the last-16 of the League Cup after today’s draw.

The Hoops, winners of the trophy for the past three seasons during the historic treble treble sequence, take on the Championship side at Parkhead on Saturday, August 17.

The Fifers’ boss Stevie Crawford will be hoping lightning can strike twice in the same tournament. Back in season 1994/95, he scored the opening goal as Raith Rovers shocked Tommy Burns’ men in the Final – then under the guise of the Coca-Cola Cup – when they won on penalty-kicks following 2-2 after extra-time.

Neil Lennon, though, will make sure there are no mistakes as the champions eye a spectacular quadruple treble.

Celtic beat Aberdeen 3-0 at the start of the run in 2016, carried on with a 2-0 success over Motherwell a year later and completed the threesome last year with a 1-0 victory over Derek McInnes’ Dons where Ryan Christie scored the winner.

There are two all-Premiership ties, with Stephen Robinson’s Fir Park side at home to Hearts and Kilmarnock facing Hamilton Accies at Rugby Park.

Steven Gerrard will take his Rangers men to New Methill where they will take on East Fife in an intriguing encounter.
