RANGERS have snapped up Motherwell’s promising youngster Jake Hastie on a four-year deal.

The exciting winger, 20, has signed a pre-contract agreement and will join Steven Gerrard’s side when his deal at Fir Park ends this summer.

Hastie, who spent the first part of the campaign at Championship outfit Alloa, became a key player at Fir Park and scored seven goals in 17 appearances.

A product of the academy since the age of nine, Gers and Well will now try to agree a suitable compensation package that is mutually acceptable.

Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard, speaking to Sky Sports, said: “We’re delighted to be able to add Jake to the squad next season.

“He is a talented young player who has performed well for Motherwell in the second half of this season.

“We are always looking to add individuals to our group of players who will improve us and Jake will undoubtedly do that.”

Hastie will join up with the squad when they report for pre-season training in June, alongside other pre-contract signing Jordan Jones, who joined from Kilmarnock.

Gerrard has also been linked with Birmingham City midfielder Greg Stewart who is currently on loan at Aberdeen after spending the first part of the term at Rugby Park.
