CELTIC FLOP WINS TOP PLAYER AWARD

0

CELTIC’S Finnish flop Teemu Pukki has been named the English Championship Player of the Season.

The international striker has scored 26 goals for Norwich City in 37 league games to help the Carrow Road outfit to open a seven-point gap at the top of the table.

Pukki, 29, who cost Neil Lennon £2.2million when he joined from Bundesliga outfit Schalke in August 2013, claimed only seven strikes in 26 league appearances for the Parkhead outfit.

The misfiring frontman had a loan spell at Bronby before the deal became permanent in August 2015. He arrived at the East Anglian side at the start of the current campaign.

Former Hoops winger Aiden McGeady was edged for the League One Player of the Year honour which was lifted by Luton Town’s James Collins.

The Republic of Ireland international midfielder has been a star for Jack Ross’ promotion-chasing Sunderland as they attempt for a quickfire return to the Championship after last term’s relegation.
