JERMAIN DEFOE will pick up a staggering £65,000-PER-WEEK during his 18-month loan deal at Rangers, according to a report.
The Bournemouth striker was signed by his former England international team-mate Steven Gerrard earlier this month with the Ibrox side determined to derail Celtic’s bid for eight Premiership titles in a row.
It’s claimed half of 36-year-old Defoe’s £130,000-a-week wage at the Premier League outfit is being covered by the Govan side – about SEVEN times the average of his new team-mates.
Gerrard’s side sit second in the title race, level on points with Brendan Rodgers’ men, but behind on goal difference and with a game more played.
They’ve also brought in Steven Davis on a six-month temporary transfer from Southampton and have agreed pre-contracts for Jordan Jones and Glen Kamara.
Defoe was due to make his debut last night, but Gers’ Scottish Cup-tie at Cowdenbeath was postponed due to underfoot conditions and has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 30.
