STEVEN GERRARD is close to announcing veteran central defender Gareth McAuley as his FIFTEENTH signing for Rangers.
The Ibrox boss has confirmed the 38-year-old free agent is set to join the club on a season-long contract.
The Northern Ireland centre-half left relegated West Brom in the summer and will join Nottingham Forest’s Joe Worrall as a late addition to Gerrard’s revamped squad.
Aberdeen and Hearts also monitored McAuley’s situation, but it looks as though he is heading to join the Gerrard Revolution in Govan.
The rookie gaffer said: “I hope that’s going to be the case. There is no major rush, he’s been called up by Northern Ireland, so we won’t see him for a couple of weeks.
“That will be the last deal.”
