MOTHERWELL have sold central defender Cedric Kipre to Wigan in a £1million deal.
The Ivorian agreed a three-year contract with the Championship side and is poised to make his debut against Sheffield Wednesday this afternoon.
Kipre, 21, joined the Fir Park club on a one-year deal from Leicester City last summer after impressing on trial.
He signed a contract extension during the season and went on to make 49 appearances.
Kipre said: “Thank you Motherwell for this opportunity you gave me. Thanks to every single person involved who helped me feel like at home, all the staff who helped me grow as a player and as a man.
“Thank you to the fans who sang my name all season, it was amazing to hear that on the pitch.
“It inspired me and helped me kick on. I’ll never forget my time at Motherwell. I wish you all the very best for the season. What a club this is.”
Kipre came through the Paris Saint-Germain youth academy before moving to Leicester in 2014, but failed to make a first-team appearance.
* HIBS have signed Darmstadt 98 striker Jamie Maclaren on loan until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old Australian spent the end of last term at Easter Road and scored eight goals in 15 games including a hat-trick against Rangers.
Maclaren said: “This is the best club for me to be at to kick on.
“I think having a manager like Neil Lennon who backs me and every player in the squad, that’s who you want to play for.”
He will go straight into the squad to face Motherwell at home in tomorrow’s Premiership opener.
