ABERDEEN are considering launching a shock move for Preston striker Louis Moult to replace Adam Rooney.
The Dons sold the Irish frontman to English fifth-tier side Salford City on Thursday – and boss Derek McInnes is now searching for a replacement.
The Pittodrie gaffer wants someone in place ahead of next week’s Europa League tie against Burnley.
Moult fits the bill of what he wants and he could now get him at the second time of asking.
Motherwell rejected a £500,000 offer from McInnes for the hitman last summer before he moved to Preston in January.
Moult’s switch to the Championship outfit hasn’t worked out as anticipated and he has scored just two goals in 11 appearances.
Meanwhile, the Dons prepared for the game against the Turf Moor rivals with a 1-1 draw against West Brom at Pittodrie last night.
Sam Cosgrove gave the home side the lead, but Jake Livermore fired in the equaliser.
* FORMER Celtic defender Glenn Loovers has agreed a two-year deal with Sunderland after being released by Sheffield Wednesday following five years at Hillsborough. The Hoops signed the 34-year-old Dutchman from Cardiff City in a £2.1million deal in 2008 before he moved to Zaragoza four years later and then onto Wednesday in 2013.
* DAVID NGOG, who quit Ross County after their relegation from the Premiership, is poised to join Steven Pressley at Cypriot outfit Pafos FC. The former Scotland international is looking for a striker and the ex-Liverpool hitman fits the bill.
* NEW Livingston player/manager Kenny Miller has signed Wimbledon winger Egli Kaja on a season-long loan. The 20-year-old attacker scored two goals in 24 appearances for the League One outfit last term.
