BETFRED CUP: JAGS v CELTS, GERS AT KILLIE

0

HOLDERS Celtic will face Glasgow neighbours Partick Thistle in the Betfred League Cup second round at Firhill next month.

Brendan Rodgers’ men have won the trophy in the past two seasons and will kick off their bid for a hat-trick against the side they beat four times last term.

The Hoops won their three league games against the Jags who were relegated from the top flight when they were beaten by Livingston in the play-offs.

A hat-trick from James Forrest knocked the Maryhill outfit out of the Scottish Cup at Parkhead in February.

One of the most intriguing ties of the round from this evening’s draw was Rangers’ visit to Kilmarnock where Steven Gerrard will face his former Liverpool coach Steve Clarke.

There are two other all-Premiership ties – Livingston v Motherwell and Aberdeen v St Mirren,

The full draw is:

Livingston v Motherwell

Dundee v Ayr United

Dunfermline v Hearts

Kilmarnock v Rangers

Aberdeen v St Mirren

Partick Th v Celtic

Hibs v Ross County

Queen of the South v St Johnstone

Ties due August 17,18 and 19
