STEVEN GERRARD is ready to turn to the SAS – Walter Smith and Graeme Souness – as he attempts to halt Celtic’s surge towards their eighth successive title.
The rookie Rangers boss is planning talks with the former Ibrox managers in his first season in charge of the Govan side, the club’s fourth gaffer in two years following Mark Warburton, Pedro Caixinha and caretaker Graeme Murty.
Gerrard said: “I have met Walter quite a few times. He is a top fella and I am really looking forward to sitting down with him. We will invite him in.
“To be fair, he doesn’t need an invite. None of the ex-managers and players do.
“We want to use them. This club needs to become one and ex-players and ex-managers are all part of that.
”Once I get settled in, I will certainly be leaning on the likes of Walter and Graeme and bending their ears.
“They will probably get sick of the sight of me!”
