KRISTOFFER AJER dismissed any notion of a move to Borussia Dortmund when Celtic offered him a new four-year deal.

The Norwegian central defender, 20, was delighted to agree an extension to his contract that will keep him at the Hoops until 2022.

Reports of interest from the Bundesliga giants came to light a few weeks ago, but Ajer was never in any doubt where his future lay.

He said: “To be fair, I was just 100 per cent focused on Celtic and when this opportunity came up to renew my contract I was really happy with that because there is not a better club for me to be at right now.

“It was never in doubt. When you play for Celtic and perform in such a good team there will always be interest, but for me it will always be about Celtic.

“I am really happy with that. It shows that they believe in me and I really believe that I can have a future in Celtic, as well.”

Ajer is looking to end the campaign as a treble winner and added: “Of course, I’m excited about next season. There are a lot of good teams in the league, but we have to focus on ourselves.

“I think there are some really positive things going on at this club and, hopefully, I can be a part of it.

“When you play for such a big club you want to achieve and win silverware. There are expectations when you play for Celtic.

“That’s why I love playing here. I will try to continue playing at a top level and do well.”
