HEARTS boss Craig Levein is poised to make a fresh move for Scotland international keeper Allan McGregor.

The Tynecastle gaffer was interested in the former Rangers No.1 last summer when the shotstopper was entering into the last year of his Hull City contract.

But McGregor, 36, opted to remain at the Championship outfit and see out the remaining 12 months.

Levein then brought in Jon McLaughlin, who, coincidentally, was called up alongside McGregor by returning Scotland manager Alex McLeish for the recent friendly internationals against Costa Rica and Hungary.

The goalie agreed a one-year deal with the Edinburgh side following his switch from Burton Albion last summer. His form has led to interest from English clubs and Levein has admitted he can’t match the other offers McLaughlin has on the table.

That has seen the Jambos chief look at options for a replacement – and re-open interest in McGregor, who will be a free agent in June.
