CELTIC’S OLD FIRM TARGET

0

CELTIC can move to within four wins of equalling the Old Firm head-to-head record tomorrow.

The Hoops have been triumphant in eight of their last 10 meetings with Rangers since Brendan Rodgers arrived in May 2016.

Graeme Murty led the Gers to successive draws at Parkhead, 1-1 in March last year and 0-0 in December.

However, the caretaker gaffer lost 3-2 in the Premiership at Ibrox last month and 4-0 in the Scottish Cup semi-final a fortnight ago.

Mark Warburton sampled defeat on three occasions – 5-1 at Parkhead in September 2016, 1-0 in the League Cup semi-final the following month and 2-1 on Hogmanay at Ibrox.

Pedro Caixinha was a three-time loser, going down 2-0 in the Scottish Cup semi-final last season, 5-1 at Ibrox and then 2-0 again at home in the Premiership in September.

The champions’ rampant success at Hampden on their way to a Cup Final meeting with Motherwell on May 19 was their 154th victory from 412 games.

Rangers are ahead with 159 wins while there have been 99 draws between the teams.

Celtic lead in the Scottish Cup with 25 triumphs to the Ibrox side’s 16.

However, they trail in League Cup confrontations with only 106 victories to Rangers’ 119.

The Govan outfit hold the advantage in the League Cup with 24 wins to the Parkhead side’s 23.
