THREE’N’EASY FOR CELTIC

0

CHAMPIONS Celtic breezed 12 points clear of Rangers and Aberdeen following an outstanding 3-0 win over 10-man Ross County at Parkhead this afternoon.

Moussa Dembele opened the scoring with a penalty-kick in the 25th minute before Dingwall skipper Andrew Davies was dismissed for an obvious stamp on Hoops captain Scott Brown.

Keeper Aaron McCarey limped off just before the break to be replaced by ex-Celt Scott Fox, who conceded to efforts from Stuart Armstrong and Tom Rogic in the second half.

Brendan Rodgers’ men march on towards their seventh successive title and are eyeing their historic second consecutive domestic treble, while County, with one win since November 4, remain anchored to the foot of the Premiership.

Hoops striker Leigh Griffiths made his first appearance after his two-month injury-enforced lay-off when he came on for Dembele in the 70th minute.

Earlier in the day, Rangers came back from 2-0 down at half-time to snatch a 2-2 draw against Motherwell at Fir Park while Derek McInnes’ Dons thumped St Johnstone 4-1 at Pittodrie, Hibs overcame Partick Thistle 2-0 in Edinburgh while revitalised Kilmarnock beat Hamilton Accies 2-0 at Rugby Park.

Celtic now meet Neil McCann’s Tayside outfit at Parkhead on Wednesday night in their rearranged fixture which was snowed off last month.
