MARTIN O’NEILL has called up Ross County keeper Aaron McCarey to his Republic of Ireland squad for their friendly against Turkey in Antalya on Friday.

Six players have dropped out of the provisional 30-man squad named by the Irish boss earlier this month.

McCarey, who has taken over the No.1 spot from Scott Fox at the Dingwall outfit, is the only new name to be brought in.

Shotstoppers Rob Elliot and Keiren Westwood have been forced to withdrw through injury, but Bradford’s Colin Doyle is okay.

McCarey has kept three clean sheets in 14 appearances for the Staggies this season, enough to impress former Celtic gaffer O’Neill.
