JON AIMS TO CAP IT ALL

HEARTS keeper Jon McLaughlin could be heading for his first Scotland cap – at the age of 30!

The Edinburgh-born shotstopper, who joined the Tynecastle outfit in the summer after being released by Burton Albion, has been in impressive form this season.

McLaughlin set a club record of eight successive clean sheets earlier in the campaign to attract attention.

Alex McLeish, the returning international boss, watched the goalie deliver an outstanding performance last weekend, despite his side’s 2-0 loss to Rangers at Ibrox.

And Big Eck was at Tynecastle in midweek as the Hearts No.1 again shone in the 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock.

McLaughlin said: “I wasn’t aware that he was watching.

“A few people have been saying that now the new man is in charge he’s been coming to games and getting around to see people.

“It’s good if you can play well in front of people like that.”
