RANGERS’ goalscoring midfielder Josh Windass has been named Premiership player of the month for February.

The 24-year-old has been in fine form this season and claimed five goals in five league games during the month, including a hat-trick in the 5-3 win over Hamilton Accies.
Windass is the first Ibrox winner of the award since their return to the top flight at the start of last season.

Previous Rangers player to claim the award was Kenny Miller during the club’s championship campaigns.

Windass now has 17 goals this term with the Govan outfit now second in the Premiership, nine points adrift of Celtic who also have a game in hand.

The forward, the son of former Aberdeen striker Dean, started his career at Harrogate Railway Athletic after being released from the youth system at Huddersfield.

From there, he earned a move to Accrington Stanley before joining up at Ibrox alongside fellow-Stanley player Matt Crooks.
