HIBS boss Neil Lennon could attempt to hi-jack any Celtic move for Scott Bain in the summer.

Brendan Rodgers admitted he was impressed by the on-loan keeper during his debut in the 3-2 win over Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday.

However, there has been no immediate reaction to make the deal permanent for the 26-year-old shotstopper who will be a free agent in June when his contract at Dundee runs out.

Bain arrived at Parkhead in an emergency back-up loan to Dorus de Vries following Craig Gordon’s knee injury sustained in the 1-0 win over the Easter Road club on January 27.

However, the goalie was thrust into the heat of a Glasgow derby at the weekend and made a miraculous save in the dying moments to grab an effort from Alfredo Morelos on the line to make sure the Hoops went nine points clear at the top of the Premiership.

Former Celtic gaffer Lennon is monitoring the situation. The Irishman originally signed Bain in the January window, but agreed to cut short the temporary switch in order to secure Scott Allan from the champions.

Hearts, though, could also be in the hunt for the Edinburgh-born player with Craig Levein bracing himself for Jon McLaughlin leaving at the end of the one-year deal he signed last summer when he arrived from Burton Albion.
