PEP GUARDIOLA has blocked a move by former Rangers star Mikel Arteta to join up with Wales.
Ryan Giggs, who replaced Chris Coleman last month as his nation’s boss, is putting together his backroom team and the Manchester City coach was on his wanted list.
Arteta was reported to be interested in the part-time post which would have seen him involved on international weeks.
However, Guardiola said no to the possible move and insisted his fellow-Spaniard remains at the Etihad with the team going for the quadruple of Champions League, Premier, FA and League Cups.
Arteta, who joined up at Ibrox from Barcelona in 2002 after his one-season loan spell at Paris Saint-Germain, was named coach at the English giants in July 2016.
The highly-rated 35-year-old has also been linked with another of his former clubs Arsenal as they prepare for life without Arsene Wenger.
