HIBERNIAN have beaten city-rivals Hearts to complete the loan signing of Jamie Maclaren.
The 24-year-old will sign on at Easter Road until the end of the season should his medical go to plan.
It is believed that Hearts had held discussions with the player’s management; however, no deal could be struck and Neil Lennon was able to seal the move.
Darmstadt gaffer, Dirk Schuster, confirmed that the Australian international had departed for Hibs in a move to secure a World Cup place in Russia.
“Jamie has agreed a contract with Hibs to join on loan.I hope this is the decisive step he is hoping for.
“He is determined to draw attention to himself and make an impact for Australia ahead of the World Cup in Russia.”
The ex-Brisbane Roar hitman will meet up with his new teammates in the Algarve before returning to Edinburgh to face Hearts in the Scottish Cup.
