UEFA have listed the clubs from around Europe who are in their elite group having won the European Cup which subsequently became the Champions League.
Real Madrid top the list having won the biggest prize in club football 12 times. Milan are in second with 7 wins and there is a three-way tie in third place with Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern Munich all on five wins.
Celtic the only Scottish club on UEFA’s elite list, having won the final in Lisbon in 1967.
The other British team who are in there are Manchester United with 3 wins, Nottingham Forest (under Brian Clough) with 2 wins in 1979 and 1980 and Chelsea and Aston Villa joining Celtic on one win.
Remarkably Rangers claim to be the most successful club in the world but never reached the European Cup / Champions League Final.
