STEPHEN ROBINSON has praised his Motherwell side for battling to a 2-1 win over Hamilton today.

The Irishman, who signed a new deal yesterday until 2020, was full of praise for his players after the came from behind to steal 3 points from their rivals.

“The pitch reduces things to a scrap and a battle but we’re quite happy to do that and we’ll try and match Hamilton and we did today.”

Speaking to Motherwell FC TV, the manager admitted that the goal may have been against ‘the run of play’ but it was still fully deserved due to the qualities his side displayed.

“I thought in the last 15-20 minutes we were the side who got the ball down and tried to play and in truth it could have been more.”

“We dominated large parts of the opening exchanges and could have had a couple of goals – Carl hit the post and Taity was denied by a great save.

“It was a wee bit against the run of play that they scored but the character and battling qualities that we’ve got I don’t think was ever in doubt.”

The Steelmen are now fourth in the table, behind Sunday’s Betfred Cup opponents Rangers.
