TOMMY WRIGHT has been named the Scottish Premiership’s manager of the month for August and his player Michael O’Halloran has picked up the prize for Player of the Month.
It’s a remarkable double for St Johnstone with Wright beating off other contenders such as Derek McInnes and Brendan Rodgers.
McInnes has four wins from four at Aberdeen and sits proudly two points clear of both St Johnstone and Celtic. Yet it was probably the recent 1-1 draw that Saints achieved at Celtic Park that swung the award in his favour.
Wright is surely one of the best managers operating in Scotland so why he was overlooked for recent vacancies at places like Ibrox and Tynecastle remains a mystery to many.
Michael O’Halloran has been enjoying his football again and scoring goals for Saints since returning to the Perth club on loan from Rangers, where he has been deemed surplus to requirements.
