SCOTLAND manager Gordon Strachan has lost both Scott Brown and Stuart Armstrong to injury for the crucial World Cup double header against Slovakia and Slovenia.
The Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers revealed today that results of scans on the midfield duo confirmed every Scotland’s fans worst fear.
Brown has a hamstring injury picked up in the 3-0 win away to Anderlecht on Wednesday night while Armstring seemed to have sustained a calf injury while warming up as a substitute.
Both midfielders will miss tomorrow’s Premiership match against Hibs as well as next Thursday’s encounter against Slovakia at Hampden and the final qualifier against Slovenia next Sunday.
Losing two guaranteed starters is huge blow for Strachan with the Scots needing two victories to secure a play-off berth for Russia 2018.
Armstrong was scheduled to be brought on early in the second half in Brussels but after reporting his tight calf, Rodgers opted to introduce Callum McGregor to the action.
Strachan has stubbornly ignored all calls to call up McGregor but with today’s bad news, surely he will now do so and give the player an opportunity to get Scotland the two wins they need.
