WATCH this fascinating look behind the scenes at a football club on deadline day.
Sheffield United wanted to sign five players and apparently all five wanted to sign yet only two did.
Greed, continually changing goalposts, players waiting strategically at train stations waiting on their agent’s instructions and a club official who says it it like dealing with the mafia.
One of the signing United did complete was Ben Heneghan, the promising central defender from Motherwell.
The 6ft 4ins Heneghan signed a three-year deal at Bramble Lane with the finishing touches were completed to the deal on deadline day.
Of the 23-year-old, boss Chris Wilder commented: “It is no secret that we’ve been after another centre half and Ben has been on our radar for sometime, we enquired about him last year. He fits our criteria and he is one we are looking forward to working with.”
Heneghan began his career at Everton and spent seven years at Goodison Park, prior to moving to Stoke City in 2012.
Now please take a few minutes to watch this video, it is remarkable.
