FORMER Scotland international striker Jamie Mackie showed Steven Fletcher and Jordan Rhodes how it’s done in QPR’s 1-1 draw at Sheffield Wednesday.
The 31-year-old attacker, who won nine caps for the Scots, was on target for the London outfit while the current hitmen fired blanks.
Fletcher and Rhodes, who cost the Hillsborough side a combined £12million, could only watch as Mackie matched last season’s total of one when he put Ian Holloway’s side ahead.
The Yorkshire outfit lost ex-Celtic centre-back Glenn Loovens to injury, but still managed to earn a point when substitute Sam Winnall levelled three minutes after the break.
Another former Parkhead hitman, Gary Hooper, almost got the winner for the Hillsborough side, but Josh Scowen cleared his effort off the line.
Carlos Carvalhal, the Owls’ Head Coach, said: “They scored one goal from their one chance in the first-half.
“After the interval, we started to create problems, we achieved the first goal and we nearly achieved the second.
“But after 30 minutes, we decreased a little. This was where we needed extra energy from the bench, but we lost that opportunity.”
Loftus Road gaffer Holloway added: “Did we do enough to win? Possibly not.
“All I know is we’re improving, we’re learning and there were lots of bits I really liked. Obviously I’ll have to take one point instead of the three we wanted.”
