HIBERNIAN have captured Steven Whittaker from Norwich following his release.
The 33-year-old has returned to Hibs after leaving in 2007 for Rangers.
Whittaker spoke to the Hibs’ official website about his delight at his return.
“I am delighted to be back at Hibernian. When I decided to return to Scotland, Hibernian was the club I hoped to come to.
“While the discussions have taken a while, they have always been positive and I am very pleased to be back playing at Easter Road for the Hibernian fans, and I hope I can play my part in ensuring a successful return to the top flight.”
The defender has been linked with a return since his release; however, negotiations appeared to have stalled so Hibs supporters will be delighted to have the deal over the line.
Hibs boss, Neil Lennon, revealed that the move is subject to international clearance and that Whittaker will not feature for the club versus Montrose in their first Betfred Cup group-stage match.
