SOUTHAMPTON have contacted Manchester City about the possibility of taking Patrick Roberts on loan.
New Saints manager, Mauricio Pellegrino is keen on bringing the 20-year-old to St Mary’s and bolster his attacking options.
The right attacker was a fan favourite at Celtic during his 18-month loan period, amassing an impressive 19 assists and 11 goals in 47 appearances for the Parkhead team. Roberts was also part of the Celtic ‘Invincibles’, who won the treble in 2016/17.
Roberts is currently with the Manchester City first team in the United States as part of their preseason tour under the eye of Pep Guardiola.
Southampton have also been said to be interested in Celtic’s Stuart Armstrong; however, it has been reported that West Bromwich Albion have listed Armstrong as their prime target in the transfer window.
The 25-year old has less than 12 months to run on his current Celtic deal and if contract talks do not resume, Celtic could be forced to sell the midfielder.
