KEATINGS WORRY AS UNITED OVERCOME BUCKIE

0

DUNDEE UNITED swept Buckie Thistle aside 3-0 to make it two wins in-a-row in the Betfred Cup group stages.

The three goals, all scored in the first half, will have delighted manager Ray McKinnon – who saw his side win 2-0 at former employer Raith Rovers on Saturday.

New signings Paul McMullan and Billy King combined for the first, before King’s long range effort found the net to make it 2-0. The tie was over when Mark Durnan volleyed home to make it 3-0 before the break.

The Highland League side managed to limit the damage in the second period as United looked to add more goals.

However, despite the relatively easy match, there were worrying signs for United when James Keatings, who signed from Hibs this summer, was carried off after an injury to his left leg.

Two wins on the bounce now leave United top of Group C.
