CELTIC have agreed a deal – thought to be around £1.3million – with Aberdeen to sign Jonny Hayes.
Young Hoops midfielder Ryan Christie will extend his loan period at the Dons for a further season as part of the move.
The champions had been battling with Cardiff City to sign the 29-year-old winger, but the Championship outfit pulled out of the race.
The player began his career in Reading’s academy when Brendan Rodgers was at the club.
However, Hayes never made a senior appearance for the Royals and signed for Leicester City in 2007.
He struggled for game time at the Foxes and went on loan at Northampton and Macclesfield before joining Inverness Caley Thistle on a free transfer in 2009.
After three years in the Highlands, he switched to Pittodrie where he made over 200 appearances and scored 30 goals.
Aberdeen are also interested in signing the former Dundee United winger Gary Mackay Steven from the Champions although the player seems to prefer a move to the Championship in England.
